Antique Thompson China Peach Luster Dinner Plate Hand Painted Birds Porcelain:
Thrifting find. Antique C. C. Thompson China Dinner Plate, featuring a colorful design of two elegant birds on a tree branch, surrounded by colorful flowers and fruits. There are subtle, shadowy shapes of birds around the rim as well. Plate is about 9.5” in diameter. It appears hand painted but I’m not completely sure. Thompson China Company was in operation in East Liverpool, Ohio, from about the mid-1800s until 1938. Plates similar to this one have been described as being from 1900 to 1905. I described the color as peach luster in the title, but it is darkened and has discoloration and wear due to age. I don’t think it’s actually luster ware, but it does have a lustrous sheen to it. There is significant crazing on both sides of the plate, but no chips or cracks that I could find. It’s quite pretty and elegant, and would be a lovely statement piece to display. Please see pictures for details and condition, and let me know if you have any questions. I pack with care. Thanks.
