I bought this elderly gentleman at a flea market when I was a child in the 1960s, and he was a very old bear then, most likely from the 1910s.I believe (based on online research) that he is Steiff, but his ear was in the torn condition that you see in the pictures when I got him. I have not made any repairs; I leave that up to collectors and conservators.I loved him and took very good care of him.Apart from his ear damage, he\'s a little threadbare in spots. Someone mended him a bit in one spot before I got him. I haven\'t done any repairs; I leave that to collectors and conservators to decide.His original mohair fur is mostly gone so he has a kind of scratchy tweedy look and feel.His felt footpads and foot embroidery are in great shape, his body is solid and strong and his wheels roll smoothly.His disposition is sweet; he\'s not grumpy despite his age, and his soul...his soul is SUPERB!He has a bit of a hump, a center belly seam, black shoebutton eyes, jointed neck. He is firmly stuffed with wood wool. His nose embroidery is mostly worn away but his face is very sweet.He had a remnant of a leather collar with a brass plaque when I got him, it broke off but is included in the sale.He measures 12\" from nose to tail, 9.5\" from wheel bottom to the top of his head. Axles are 5\" apart front to back, 4.75\" side to side.No odd smells, no stains, non-smoking home.He has a brother out there for sale on right now, with a fixed price at double my starting sale price. sales are so much more fun than Buy It Now, right?I pack everything I ship very carefully. I have added an $8 handling fee for new packaging materials and insurance.
