This BEAUTIFUL, carved wood and ceramic trivet was part of my great aunt\'s estate. It has ALWAYS remained in ONE FAMILY and IS NOT a rummage store item. It\'s a COLLECTABLE ANTIQUE! I was surprised to find today\'s online interest in trivets. I have been unable to find information that would reliably verify it\'s age. I would GUESS that it\'s 40 to 50 years old. She passed away in the 1990s and was over 100 years old. It was displayed on a plate stand in her china cabinet as far back as I can remember and was commonly used on holidays.Description:
The circle of wood is 9-5/8\" in diameter (LARGE) and appears to be varnished. The side is tapered around the entire perimeter to highlight the carved design. The design is of grape clusters, grape leaves and grape vines. It appears to be hand carved. The top has a recessed area to receive the 6\" round, beige Mid-State ceramic disc. The ceramic disc is marked \'Mid-State\' and \'2\' on the back. The ceramic disc protects the wood from heat and makes it quite functional. The total height is 1-1/4\". The wood and ceramic disc is in EXCELLENT CONDITION for it\'s age.
