This is a 100% authentic Ottoman Empire Medjidie or Mejidie Silver Military Medal Award.
The medal is made of Silver with gold outer center and enamels. Turkish hallmarks on the reverse. Condition is very good. The enamel has no damage or cracks.
On the back side: The Sultan\'s tughra in the center of the badge.
4 Enamel Plaques with the inscription in Arabic letters and numbers:
\"Zeal, Devotion, Loyalty, 1268 (Arabic year for 1852).
The medal was instituted in 1852 by Sultan Abdul Mejid in 5 Classes. It was awarded for meritorious military and civil cervices to female and male recipients of both Turkish and foreign origin. The number of the awards was limited in all its classes.
Weight of the Medal is 70.5 grams. Silver and Gold.

Design of the OrderOn the obverse of the star is Sultan Abdülmecid\'s royal cipher surrounded by an inscription on a gold-bordered circle of red enamel; all on a star of seven triple quills with small crescents and five-pointed stars between them, suspended from a red enameled crescent and star suspender with green enameled edges.
First Class OrderRough translation of the front: To the left: (you have) crossed. To the right: (you are proven to be) correct. At the top: (you have provided) protection. At the bottom: Year 1268. In the centre: In the name of the God the forgiver, the merciful.
The order has 5 classes. First, second, third and fourth classes are gold. Fifth (lower) class is silver.
