Up for sale is one antique safe deposit lock and combination door assembly, believed to be French or Belgian in origin - definitely European. Likely from the first half of the 20th century, though no exact date is known.This lock comes with the original brass key - the handle reads \"B107\" and \"BANQUE DE COURTRA[unreadable]\".The steel door, measuring approximately 7.5\"L x 4.1\"H x 2.25\'\'W, is painted a cream color on the front face, white on the back, and features a large raised brass plate which used to ostensibly house 4 dials for inputting the combination. The dials are absent. Additionally, there is a large brass escutcheon with one keyhole and a sliding brass keyhole cover with \'B 373\' engraved at the top. \'B 373\' used to be painted in black, though much of the paint has chipped away. The escutcheon and the keyhole cover both have raised brass arms with holes which would align allowing for a padlock to be inserted, locking the keyhole cover in place. However, the keyhole cover will not slide all the way down.The body of the lock is brass with a keyhole on the back.This item is old and used and shows signs of cosmetic wear including some rust, chips in the paint, scratches, scrapes. Little is known about the precise history of this lock other than it was brought to the States from Belgium in the 70s.
