This is an original late 1800s Antique Victorian Black Mourning Cape with a darling matching antique purse purchased together from a dealer who said they came together and deserve to stay together. The cape looks like watermark silk with the silk type water stains in the fabric, but I don’t think it’s silk or it would have shattered because of metallic compounds in silk so might be a taffeta. Please use your mouse to enlarge. It is about 26” long and while it has some of the original detail, some of the side lace along the patterned trim needs replacement. The antique Victorian purse has SIX little circles clustered together as its main design element and the sort of pleated purse part itself measures about 6” x 4-1/2” and then when the purse is on your wrist, the loops hang down another 6” to the purse part itself. One of the loops is shattering but useable as is or easily repairable. Good for Victorian costume or theater or reenactment needs. You are purchasing these two items as is. Thank you for looking.
