Very unique antique 1800s Victorian cameo necklace. My jeweler had a look at the carved cameo and believes it is coral.The cameo pictures the mythological Greek goddess, Hera.The cameo frame and the chain links are brass, and each link is studded with a bezel set salmon colored coral cabochon. In between every two brass links is a white fresh water baby tooth pearl.
It is amazing that all of the pearls are still intact, have luster and are without chips.
The necklace has the old antique spring ring clasp located just above the pendant in the front.
This necklace is in great antique condition with perhaps one or two small nicks to the cameo and age patina on the brass. (Most of the photos which include the pendant portion were taken before I gave it a light polishing to match the rest of the neckace. The polished pendant is seen in first photo.)
Length of Necklace - 18 inches (not including pendant)The pendant is 3 1/8\" high and 1 1/2\" wide.The coral cameo alone is 1 1/2\" high and just under 1 inch wide
