This is one stunning Victorian nightgown!
This cotton nightgown is made to look sort of like a nightgown and robe. One of the obvious features is the HUGE puff sleeves. The ruffled cuffs, as well as the equally huge sailor collar are accented with hand embroidered trim. I have pictured the back of the trim to show you how much work went in to this trim! Looks like a set of 2 turkey feet in blue with a white solid center.The trim also has that looks like a tan zig zag/rick rack with white.The big collar is tacked on one one side and buttons to the other side in front.
The trim forms a high neck and there is a small pocket on the chest.
There are pieces of elastic at each cuff holding them together. I\'m not sure if originally it was made that way or added laterI just laundered the nightgown. It had some \"water\"/rust spots and most of them came out. There are just a very few left and one dim size stain in back about 1 1/2 ft from the bottom (pictured). When I laundered it about half of that stain came out.
There is just one TINY Hole, about 1/8\" near the hem but is barely noticeable
I just purchase a group of Victorian items and hope to have them all listed within the week so please stop back!
I would call this a \"Gay 90s\" (1890s) piece! Lovely!Of course, there is no size tag.
