Antique Victorian Ivory Handle Silk Chantilly Lace Folding Carriage Parasol:

This beautiful antique Victorian parasol features an ivory silk cover and lining, with a black Chantilly lace overlay, and a stunning, carved ivory handle and finial.

The handle is real elephant ivory, and though it is cracked in some spots, this does not detract from its beauty. The finial appears as though a piece was broken off or once fit into it, but again, I don\'t believe it detracts from the piece as a whole. The rest of the handle is pine or another light wood, and the spokes, or \"ribs\" of the parasol are cane, or wood (see photos).

Though the silk is shattered in places, the lace overlay appears to be completely intact, and for the most part, free of holes or damage. The mechanism to open and close the parasol works well, though I hesitate to open it too far for fear of damaging the silk further. Though the parasol folds in half, it does not appear to tilt.

Would make a beautiful display or demonstration piece!!
