Authentic Whitby Jet necklace with beautiful lustrous black beads. The faceted graduating beads are in wonderful condition except one has a tiny flea bite and one close to the clasp that has hairline cracks. Several have nicks by the threading hole that are not obvious when worn. The necklace measures 18 ½” long with the largest bead at 7/8” in diameter and the smallest at 3/8”. The beads are threaded on black cord and it comes with a good working spring clasp, not sure if original. Whitby Jet which originated in Whitby England is fossilized wood that has been used for thousands of years and became most popular during the Victorian Era. The necklace is in very good to excellent vintage condition andguaranteed to be Whitby Jet.
