Superb late Victorian oil lamp with loaded brass reeded pillar base and heavy cut faceted glass font.With twin burner including extinguisher and twin thumb wheels embossed \"ENGLISH MADE\".
The globe shade is a stunning rare stencil etched frosted shade.Originally mouth blown glass,blown into a mold and then etched with acid,adding the stenciled decoration for a second acid etch leaving the decoration raised.
Becoming very hard to find nowadays.
The decorated globe has four different panels of a young boy and girl in idyllic scenes of friendship and courting.
Circa 1880~1910
Condition is overall very good.The lamp is fully working.The burner does have an old solder repair to the bridge between the two burners at the top(as shown in photo12). Nothing major,but noted.The faceted cut glass font is free from any chips/cracks etc and has the usual bubble and odd line/flaw as done at time of manufacture.The globe has some minor odd flea bites,but nothing that detracts from this superb shade.
The mouth blown chimney is \"Griffith Brand\"\"Fireproof\"made in Belgium.
The collar is fine with general age patina of burner.
Measures 23.5\"tall to top of chimney.
Font/reservoir measures a 6\"diameter at widest point.
Base measures 6.5\" diameter.
Globe measures 7.25\"tall with a 4\"gallery diameter and 3.25\" chimney hole diameter.
An absolute superb addition to any collection,or great gift to a special person,would make a lovely wedding/silver anniversary gift?.
Will display superbly in any period,contemporary setting.
Has wear and tear,marks,stains,odd little dink etc commensurate with age and over 100 years of use...
Weighs 2.990 kilos unwrapped...minus a little for fuel...
