This sale is for a beautiful antique Victorian/early 1900s silk velvet textile fragment. The velvet\'s texture is lovely with a subtle shimmering quality which changes hue depending on how the fabric is handled (light to dark). It is most likely French in origin. It is very soft to the touch with its pile close to the surface and has a cotton base. Its fiber content is of silk and cotton only;no synthetic fibers. It is quite rare to find this color - even its selvedges are unique....Its shade depicted in photos is pretty true to what it is in person, however, it also depends on how one\'s monitor is set. As noted above in \"Condition Description\", it has discoloration/fading due to age and storage....I have taken photos in natural light with no flash so that one can see all flaws..... This is lightweight fabric, however, it is not super thin due to its cotton base. It is pliable, but it is not one that would tightly gather or pleat....this does not mean that it is thick velvet. Hopefully one can tell by photos.
