Listed is a stunning papier mache tilt top chess table dating from the mid to late 19th century Victorian period.
This chess table stands on four wide feet with a circular base. Rising to the center on a tapering bulbous column which unites with the table top on a tilting mechanism with pinch lock catch. The wide scalloped edge circular table top above has a beautifully lacquered and stunningly inlaid chess board centerpiece with gorgeous mother of pearl. A classic example of a wonderful piece.
