I believe this is a Victorian sheet music rack, used to store sheet music or light papers. It would hang from the organ or piano. There are two holes drilled in the top (I assume hardware to hang the piece would be there). This piece is carved, and ornate. It could use a bit of TLC to make it a bit more solid. There are several nicks and chips on this piece, indicative to its age.
