A superb Victorian Scottish 15ct solid gold agate geode brooch.
Brooch dates to the late Victorian period around 1870 - 1890.
The brooch is very rare and a superb example of its type.
Brooch has been tested as 15ct solid gold.
The stone is an \" agate geode \" which is different to a normal agate stone as it has formed millions of years ago by volcanic rock.
The agate geode is in good condition and has only a very tiny tiny nibble to the top edge.
The back of the agate geode has a few chips but these can\'t be seen as it is at the back of the brooch.
The gold work has a nice detailed border with a rope design with a nice frilled edge.
The fastening pin is in good working condition.
Looks to have had an old repair to one end of the brooch , but has been well done.
Measures - 4.7 cm wide x 4.1 cm height. ---- Weighs 12.6 grams.
