This rare Victorian Antique Smoking Stand is in remarkable condition for its age. It features a square top with cigarette rests in each corner, a handle for ease of movement, a column beautifully adorned with the very traditional Tobacco plant motif and a square base. Photos show the design cast into the metal at manufacture. Examination of the piece reveals no damage or repairs to the cast iron. Condition appears to be all original, even to the finish which was at one point a gold tone but has over time worn to the base metal in many areas. There is no evidence of the piece ever having been repainted or refinished. There is some rust primarily on the base, on the feet and on the underside of the base. The stand which weighs over 6 1/2 pounds is sturdy and sound. It is made in three sections which are threaded for easy assembly. Photos of the disassembled piece show clear detail of the design and condition from all angles.
