The design has delicate poppy flowers interspersed between scrolling leaves, which adds a whimsical touch to this piece.A light patina on the sterling silver gives this piece an antique quality, which we believe is quite lovely. This piece was most likely handed down as a gift from a mother to her daughter and has a beautiful cursive inscription of, \"To Thelma from Mother Xmas, 1944.\" The bracelet slides easily over the hand and hangs elegantly off the wrist. Don\'t miss your chance to continue the loving history of this darling Art Nouveau bracelet.
Damage: Age appropriate wear. The bracelet is missing one of the expandable straps, so it is not expandable, but this does not affect wear. The price has been reduced to reflect this.

The Art Nouveau era, 1890-1910, was also called \"La Belle Epoque\" in French, which translates to \"A Beautiful Time.” This was very true due to the gorgeous designs that came out of this period. This era focused on women and the beauty of nature and the pieces were often large. Enamel was a common material used in Art Nouveau jewelry as the period was more about the importance of the design over the materials used to create it. The Art Nouveau period happened before the start of the first world war, when mass manufacturing took over production of many products, including some jewelry.
Charles Horner was an English jeweler whose fine jewelry company was founded in the 1860s. His company was well known for enameled Art Nouveau pendants, hatpins, and necklaces in the Jugendstil style. In 1884, Horner patented a line of thimbles that he called “Dorcas” thimbles, which layered steel and sterling silver, and cemented his company as an innovative producer of fine jewelry. After his death in 1896, Horner’s two sons continued to expand the company, which is now known for a wide range of fine sterling silver products, including tableware, jewelry, thimbles, and clocks.
