W.D. Allen Mfg. Co. was opened in 1869. The true date of this fire extinguisher is unknown, but fire extinguishers of this type were already being produced around the time this company opened so it is highly likely that is could be 140 years old.

It\'s a real beauty but could could use a good cleaning/buffing.

Directions For Charging

Put 1 Â½ lbs. BI-Carbonate of soda in machine. Fill with water to mark on inside. Stir well. Fill bottle to acid line with sulphuric acid (4 fluid ounces). Replace in cage with lead stopple in bottle. Screw cap down tight. Discharge and recharge once a year. Record date on card attached. Clean thoroughly whenever used.
