During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.
Chinese Export jewelry became popular during the late Victorian Period and lasted until the 1960\'s. In a lot of ways Chinese Export jewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these periods, Chinese Craftsmen, including Jewelers and Stone cutters, were considered by far the best in the world.
The rich and wealthy would have a piece custom ordered through their local jeweler whom was usually gifted at drawing a design to send off to contacts in China to craft and send back. As you can imagine, this was not cheap, that being said, these pieces are very rare and few have survived until today.
Chinese Stone cutters were considered some of the finest artisans in the world during the Vintage Era. They would carve western themes as well as the rarer traditional Eastern themes into their many pieces.
Chinese Turquoise is considered by the Chinese as the second most valuable stone only behind Jade. Chinese Turquoise was highly prized due to its rarity and gorgeous bright blue hues. With the rarer types there will be a spider web matrix within the stones.
Historians believe the link between humans and lapis lazuli stretches back more than 6,500 years. The gem was treasured by the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, Greece, and Rome. They valued it for its vivid, exquisite color, and prized it as much as they prized other blue gems like sapphire and turquoise.
Agates are semi-precious stones that are a variety of chalcedony formed from layers of quartz. The stone usually shows varicolored bands with rounded nodules or veins.Agates form over time when an empty pocket develops inside of a rock. Microcrystals will form layer-by-layer and vary in color and arrangement due to changes in pressure, temperature, and mineral content. Each agate is unique because of these changes and even slabs cut from the same specimen will vary in color and design.
People in the earliest recorded times believed in the magical powers of quartz. Ancient Roman, Egyptian, and Greek civilizations used quartz crystals as potent talismans. The Romans used rose quartz as a seal to signify ownership, and Egyptians believed the stone could prevent aging.
Labradorite is a beautiful type of Iridescent stone that flashed different colors within the stone. The blue and red hues are the most highly prized coming out of Finland. All packages are sent via USPS First Class Insured Mail unless another shipping option is chosen by the buyer.
