bloodstone such as Albert the Great, who referred to the stone as the “stone of Babylon;” Pliny the Elder, who attributed the stone as being used for invisibility by magicians; and Damigeron, who wrote about its ability to make it rain, produce a solar eclipse, and preserve health and youth, among others.
The Piece
The ring includes a bloodstone centerpiece! The bloodstone is cabochon cut into an oval shape and features a smooth polished surface that was most likely meant to be carved into a signet. However, this stone is entirely un-carved meaning you can have it carved with your own personal signet! It is extremely rare to find a signet of this age un-carved.
The bloodstone itself includes a deep green color with its signature blood red spots throughout the top of the stone. The stone measures in at 13 mm long by 10 mm wide and is in great condition.
The ring includes classic Georgian Era craftsmanship throughout! The piece includes a thick rose gold setting for the bloodstone signet centerpiece that holds it in place perfectly. The gold design is finished off with a smooth polished touch and markings on the inside of the band!
The ring measures in at just over 0.5\" long by 0.75\" wide.
