Amazing Vintage/Antique German needlework/embroidery of an English Bulldog. The workmanship is so amazing that you\'d swear it is an oil painting. The background appears to be a very soft gray wool, and I\'m guessing the thread used for the satin stitching is wool as well, although I can\'t be certain. I can\'t stress enough the quality of the hand stitching. Every aspect of the English bulldog looks so realistic. The needlework is a nice large size, and the bulldog is very impressive. The inside oval of the frame measures 11 1/4 inches by 15 1/4 inches. The overall picture with frame measures 14 3/8 inches wide by 18 1/4 inches long. I can\'t date the needlework as I\'m not certain if this is the original frame or if the embroidery has been reframed at some point. The frame appears to me to date to the 1950s or 1960s, but I can\'t be certain. The needlework could be much older than the frame. This is an absolutely stunning piece of needlework!
