This is a large and heavy mostly-brass door lock.It takes two keys to operate the locking bar. First the key with the threaded end must be screwed in and then the large regular type key is used to move the locking bar out. It can be moved out to two extended positions. Operates smoothly and the internal parts show very little signs of wear.
Please view the photos and use your own references to determine the type and vintage of the lock. I did not see any maker markings on the lock. I believe that the lock is circa 1900 and possibly a jail house door lock.
The large flat plate that all of the working parts are mounted to, and the edge where the steel locking bar goes in and out, are solid brass.The lock works smoothly (see photos with locking bar in and out). Both keys are provided.
