My grandfather-in-law worked on the ground with the Air Force all of his career, doing satellite control (among other things that he was not at liberty to tell us) for Edwards Air Force Base, and he spent a lot of time around Vandenberg Air Force Base. When he did a tour during the Korean conflict in Japan and Vietnam, he became enamored with the culture and the people. From then on, he always used and shared the scraps of language he picked up, and collected reminders of his time overseas. This wonderful collector\'s piece wall plaque was purchased in an identical set of two as an anniversary gift around 1978, from Chinatown in San Francisco, CA. This large oval dish is in a very good aged condition. It is a beautiful East Asian design of a successful young fisherman. The ceramic is overpainted for shading effects. There are makers marks on the picture which say: BRETBY. 1510 MADE IN ENGLAND. There is also a little flower shape mark.The item shown is the one you will receive.Measurements: 15-1/8\" Long x 9-3/4\" Wide X 1\" High. Weighs 2 lb. 11.4 oz.
