Antique Vtg Lovely Teddy Bear 1920s/30s "penny" Tlc? For Sale
Penny is a lovely teddy bear made around the 1920s/30s. Her blonde, soft mohair is patchy and sparse in areas. The material of the inside of her left arm has come away exposing the external card joint, but it can still be moved and is not in danger of falling off(see pic 11). Her feet are card lined and you can see the lining poking through a hole on her left foot pad (see pic 12). Her cotton pads are a little grubby, but aside from the hole on her left foot they are all intact. She looks to have her original nose and mouth stitching and she does have remains of paw and foot claws but they have mostly broken away. She has her original painted back glass eyes (with little paint remaining), they are quite loose and I very nearly secured them for her but I didn't want to change her sweet expression, they just seemed to suit her that way! Her bare material is marked in places and I can see some old repairs running along some of her seams, I tried to picture them but they were invisible by photograph. She measures 18 inches long and has kapok stuffed limbs with a mixture of wood wool and kapok in her head and body.In all Penny is a loved ted who could possibly do with a little TLC, but she is ever so lovely and is more than happy as she is. She has the most wonderful face and is full of character. If you have any questions I am always happy to answer them. She will be sent by recorded delivery.
