ORIGINAL 1908 WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS \'SHOOT THEM & AVOID TROUBLE\' PRINT BY AMERICAN LITHOGRAPHYThis is a great piece. A scarce original print done in 1908 by the Winchester Repeating Arms company. Titled \"Shoot them & Avoid Trouble, this print was originally recalled by the company because it had racist overtones - the prints were taken back and many were destroyed and others were altered, cutting off the bottom title margin. This image was also used in the store display with an extra border talking about selling the Shotguns and shells. A wonderful lithograph on cardboard stock with the image measuring 19 x 27 inches on sheet measuring 21 1/2 x 29 1/4 inches. The image itself is in outstanding condition with original color. The margins show some minor staining with what looks like a water stain in the lower left corner. There is some minor edge tears that extend to the edge of the image but nothing too bad. It also looks as though there are some minor handling creases in the piece as well but nothing too bad. Really overall a very good example of this scarce print. Marked with the company and publisher information along the bottom edge of the image. Print is framed in original period oak frame that is really beautiful and complimentary. A great presentation of this scarce piece. Looks like a newish backing with cardboard and tape. Probably should be replaced with archival materials. Frame measures 24 1/2 x 32 1/2 inches.
