Presented is a wonderful quality, English sterling silver mechanical pencil made by Sampson Mordan & Companyduring the late 1800s or very early 1900s. Sampson Mordan was a famed British silversmith and the co-inventor of the mechanical pencil, so you know this is of the finestquality. This particular pencil doesn\'t require single lead rods, it actually pushes out a miniature pencil that is easy to replace.

The pencil is marked for Sampson Mordan & Company as well as the lion passant for sterling silver and the leopard\'s head for London.

This piece is in excellent condition, especially for its age. There are no damages and no repairs.

The pencil holder (only the sterling silver portion) measures 2 1/2 inches long.

The weight of the pencil holder including the pencil that is currently inside of it is 13.4 grams, obviously the tiny pencil is only a very small portion of the weight.
