USA made antique + 100 years old, official US MAIL post office mailbox postal drop. Recently sandblasted and painted by amateur. Metal has been filled and sanded but not smoothed out perfectly so there is some bumps where the filler is. All of it is hidden under the paint. Very nice decorative piece, quite impressive in person. Made from cast iron and steel. Very heavy. Works fine. Inside is painted blue. has an attachment that can be drilled on with a date stamped in it Patented June22, 1909 which is molded into the back of the cast iron hanger piece. This ia a Van Dorn style US MAIL box, originally an all dark green or bright red color.
