This is a very nicely carved cuckoo clock dating to the sometime around 1900. The American Cuckoo Clock Company imported cuckoo clocks from the Black Forest in Germany from 1885 to around 1945. A beautiful three-dimensional fox adorns the base of the clock. The crest features a large carved bird on top of a bunch of grapes. The scene probably depicts the fable of The Fox and the Grapes.This clock has recently been professionally serviced. The bellows have been restored with new leather and the whistles covered with high quality marbled paper. It comes with two pine cone weights and the original carved pendulum. The hands appear to be bone. The weights on this clock must be raised once every day. It is 21 1/2 inches high from the tip of the bird\'s wing to the bottom of the leaf on the bottom of the case.The crest was broken on one side and was glued at some point. The break is hard to see because the wood is dark, the crack has been filled. The photos with the white circles show the crack location.The clock is in good working condition. Because of all that can happen in transport, I cannot guarantee that it will run on arrival. In the unlikely event that it does not run, it should only need minor adjustment by a knowledgeable clock person.Please study the photographs carefully and feel free to ask questions.
