Antique English Silber and Fleming style, box back typedollhouse from the latter half of the 1800’s, Probably 1860-70. The house has three stories with 6 equallydivided rooms with original wallpaper and floor papers, the kitchen is paintedthe traditional blue to repel flies. Thehinged classical facade is hand painted with the lower story having large whitestone blocks and the second and third story having smaller orange/red bricks. There is one original closing latch. The “box” part of the house is the original “silberand fleming” burnt orange color original paint. The back wall on the left as youare facing the house has an appropriately repaired split in the wood due towood shrinkage- this is typical for these types of aged dollhouses. This house should have no repairs for the newowner, a real gem!!!

Above the portico, a green wooden balcony with pierced greenmetal railing that spans the entire façade. The third story has this same metal pierced balcony in 4 separatesections.

The inside of the opening front façade door has old paperwith glass windows with painted mullions on the windows. The windows are adorned with 19thcentury lace curtains.

All fireplaces (5) are original to the house with originalwooded surrounds. The cooker in thekitchen is not original to the house.

This house is sold with all the contents pictured. Most of the furnishings are german in originand date appropriately to the 1800’s. The house contains an incredible paintingfrom the mid 1800’s. There is also aneedlework picture framed in a Dresden paper frame of the same period. One of the ancillary photographs shows thesetwo wonderful pieces in this house. The needlework however has experienced somedarkening in the bottom section as shown in the photographs. One room has Walterschausen furniture fromGermany with 2 marble top surfaces. There are two rooms with germanSchneegas bedroom furniture. Both bedrooms have period beds that have bedlinens included. Another room has agerman upholstered set of furniture with metal repousse lions head décor on thefront of the arms of the sofa and side arm chairs. Strombecker furniture is located in the kitchen,2 chairs and a table.

The incredible part of this house, (other than the houseitself!!!! ) Are the dolls that areincluded. There are 2 all bisque frozencharlottes and 5 china head cloth body dolls in original clothing. 3 of the five dolls are the earlier chinahead dolls from about 1860 with the tiny feet and arms. They have the most incredible originalprofessional clothing with pantaloons , slips and intricately sewn dresses. These dresses are original to the doll!!! Not “redressed” in new clothing.

This house has been played with, it is not in pristinecondition, it is in good original condition. There have been numerous repairs and partial paint touch ups but for themost part all of the surfaces are original. The house is 39 ½ inches tall andeach room is 12 inches deep by 12 inches wide and 10 1/2 inches tall. The upholsteryon the furniture is not perfect and one marble table had a crack across thetop. If you want detailed conditionreports on any of the item in the house or the house itself just ask. I justwant to make you aware that the contents of this house are age appropriate, have been played with and are some (not all by any means) are not perfect or in pristine condition.

Silber and Fleming were wholesalers in England that produceda catalogue for their customers. Theyhad warehouses that housed all of their merchandise. They dealt in a variety of products fromsilver items to dollhouses. This styleof dollhouse was made by local English craftsmen. There isn’t much documented history in thisarea but it is believed that there were many carpenters who made these housesin their small shops and wholesaled them to Silber and Fleming. It isn’t very often that you see two that arealike. This house may take up to 8 daysto properly pack and secure so please do not hold me to the 2 day ship that ison the listing.

I will ship to the USA only unless other arrangements are made.
