Description: This original antique print originates from: \'Getreue Abbildungen Naturhistorischer Gegenstaende in Hinsicht auf Bechsteins kursgefasste gemeinnutzige Naturgeschichte des In- und Auslandes\' (Realistic Pictures from Natural History) by I.M. Bechstein. This was a series of publications published between 1795 and 1807 in Nurnberg.Artists and Engravers: Johann Matthaus Bechstein (1757-1822) was a German forestry expert aqnd ornithologist. Initially, he studied and taught theology, but in the 1790\'s expanded his casual interest in natural history. He was a prolific author - although not as well remembered as, e.g. Buffon.

Subject: Original plate, titled: Der Wassersanger. Accentor aquaticus (German Water-Ouzel).

Condition: Very good, given age. General age-related toning and mild foxing. Margins cropped a bit short, some traces of binding. Please study scan carefully.

Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 11.5 x 20.5 cm. The image size is ca. 9 x 12 cm.
Size (in inch): The overall size is ca. 4.5 x 8.1 inch. The image size is ca. 3.5 x 4.7 inch.

Medium: Handcoloured etching/engraving on a verge type handlaid paper.
