The box is in good condition for its age. I would guess to say 1890 to 1920 era,closer to the 1890 side judging by the nails. The leather is worn and brittle. It needs some tlc but i think its a very interesting piece. It has a slight hump to the top, and still has the original tray. The chest was loaded with interesting tidbits which i will list later this week. Box is wood with a thick leather like paper covering it, and also raised brass tacks for decorations. Measures approximately 12 in long x 7 1/2in wide x 8 in tall. There is a crack in the paper along the top, and various other pieces are missing in spots. Selling as is.
