This is an Alencon needle lace applique on later machine net lappet It measures 49 ins x 3 ins x 49 ins. Colour an age darkened ecru. This reconstruction has been very carefully and neatly done - hard to differentiate from an !8th century lappet, but the net ground is an even machine net and tiny stitches can be seen under a magnifier around the motifs.
