We have for your consideration in refinished, used antique condition offered for the first time anywhere exclusively on , an ORIGINAL ART DECO 1920s MADDOX (MAD-OX) MAHOGANY DROP FRONT SECRETARY DESK - BOOKCASE WITH CLAW FEET that measures 69½ inches tall by 31¾ inches wide and 17 inches deep. Fully marked with company logo as shown. “Maddox was maker of higher medium quality Colonial Revival reproductions. Their designs were often quite faithful to the original. This American Mahogany Secretary Desk is a splendid example of one of the Colonial Revival secretary desks that was produced by Maddox Table Company. While many companies manufactured this secretary desk, this Maddox version was considered top of the line. Starting from top to bottom, with its arched broken pediment, urn and flame finial, the nooks and crannies in between, and all the way down to its elegant claw and ball feet, this secretary desk is an inspiring piece of America\'s past. The glass doors open to reveal three shelves, including the base shelf, that provides ample room for showcasing books, photos, or favorite objects of art. Its slant front desk drops down to reveal a fitted interior with cubby holes and drawer. Most of these bookcase secretary units were made between the 1920s and the 1950s.“ This particular Secretary has been used by one family only, lately as a computer desk, hence the wire hole in the exterior. Piece has been refinished but retains original glass and hardware. There are some rubs from use on claw feet. All wood solid with no cracks.
