This is a really cool Art Deco cocktail / Martini shaker with a sterling overlaid black amethyst glass base and a chromed lid assembly. There is a sterling overlay fox hunt equestrian scene with hound on either side. The glass container is 8 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches across the mouth and has a 2 3/4 inch base. The glass is thick and heavy and has a 32 oz capacity. It looks black, but when you hold it up to the sun it is purple. The bottom edge is ground off flat. The fox hunt scenes are marked \"STERLING\" and are about 3 1/2 inches long and 2 3/4 inches tall and show a horse and rider jumping a fence following a hound. It is the same scene on both sides. There is an overlay silver ring above and below as well.
The Sterling overlay is worn and dull in spots. The large part of chrome top is OK, but the little lid on top has a small crack at the edge. It doesn\'t leak in use, but might get worse over time. The glass is good with no chips, cracks, or scratches.
