Vintage Art Deco Djer Kiss Compact Kerkoff Kissing Fairies/Kissing Nymphs, Silver PlatedThis whimsical compact Is from the 1920’s era. Djer-Kiss silver plated powder and rouge mirrored compact. The hinged case measures approximately 2” x 2” when opened a mirror swings out into position allowing the women to access the content a very practical and useful design. This exquisite case was designed during the Art Nouveau period by one of the most sought after and successful illustrator/painter of the era Maxfield Parrish. This piece was manufactured by Kerkoff Company of Paris. The original rouge powder has been left in it to enjoy the lovely fragrance when opened.
The \"Made in France\" art nouveau pattern was designed by Maxfield Parrish and features two fairies or nymphs circled by a sun ray lid border, a reverse hammered design, and the case is signed. There are two compartments, one for powder, and one for rouge that is behind the two sided mirror. The powder compartment is clean and as mentioned above, the other compartment has the original rouge and comes with a slightly used custom made powder puff. It is hallmarked at the clasp with \"Djer Kiss\". It snaps shut as it should with no rust or corrosion. It measures approximately 2 inches X 2 inches. This little beauty is in excellent condition. It is very difficult to find this compact without silver tarnishing or blacken corrosion or shadowing in the designs or around the hinges or openings. A wonderful piece to add to one\'s compact collection.
