This is a superb diamond-shaped porcelainbowl by Bawo & Dotter, a New York importer with its own Limoges factorycalled Elite Works, produced sometime between 1896 and 1920 (see date commentsbelow).
The bowl’s porcelain color is a slightlyyellowish shade of cream. The gilttrim and gold leaf design are very well done, with gilding that appears to beheavier than normal. There are buttwo literally pen tip-sized spots, one on each handle where some porcelain showsthrough. There are no chips,cracks, hairlines, or staining on the bowl.
As the photos illustrate, it is anunusual shape with a smoothly-curved concave shallow bowl cavity. Please review the photographs.
Date comments: This bowl carries two marks. One is a green mark B25j, (Elite L France), used 1896-1920. The other is the red mark B25g EliteWorks mark showing St Martial from the Limoges city seal, used 1896-1932. Those two marks place the date of thisbowl between 1896 and 1920.
This is a gorgeous, striking piece ofLimoges porcelain in superb condition.
