Transfer print. The primary medium of 19thC wall tile decoration superseded by majolica in the 20thC, many were hand coloured.

This is a good quality printed tile with a full and complex aesthetic design, of unique floral elements and patterns, in brown, which barrows from several established styles.

Condition: This tile is in good condition and no crazing for a hundred year old glazed tile. There is a tiny chip on the top, one on the left side of tile and one on the left cornet of tile. The photos of this tile are unforgiving in their ability to reveal flaws of any kind. So, you can clearly see, this tile is in a very nice state. The verso (back side) of this tile is covered in a green base and I was unsure whether to remove it or not. I have left it on so that it gives a little more versatility to the buyer - tile seems to be in excellent condition. As I cannot see the back, I cannot see if there are any markings but from research I think that this is a tile that was most probably manufactured by T. G. & F. Booth.
