I will have some more wonderful paintings listed in SEPTEMBER & October

so keep an eye on bouvard15

Dear buyer,

Please read this letter before you scroll down and be sure to read and understand my descriptions of the paintings that I list on BEFORE YOU offer

First of all, these paintings are mostly between 100 and 300 years old.

They have come directly or indirectly from the walls of Old English Country Houses and Stately Homes andeven Castles.

I describe their condition honestly and mention all defects in the paintings and the frames. I use the same terms of description as used by the top 3 sale houses.

.

If you want something that looks new and in a perfect new frame there are plenty of reproduction paintings on in brand new frames so I suggest this will be more suitable for you.

Should you have a deep pocket, I suggest that you buy at a leading Art Gallery and pay retail price for a fully restored painting costing many TENS OF THOUSANDS of £££’s or $$$’s

What I offer are once in a lifetime buying opportunities.

Within a few years from now there will be fewer old paintings available.

So buy now while I am still sourcing fine works of art.

Some of my regular buyers are art dealers and galleries.

Please also read my footnote at the bottom of the page re. Antique frames.

I offer a full refund if I have wrongly described paintings

FOR SIZES AND SHIPPING -- all detailed TIPS WHEN ASSESSING PAINTINGS.

Having been in this business for 50 years I know how important it is to study the back of a painting aswellas the front.

This is why WE ALWAYS show good clear images of theFULL REVERSEof our paintings.

If a seller does not show the whole reverse of a painting it is because they do not want you to see it.

Much can be read into the back as to the age of the canvas or wood panel.

N.B. I would never buy a painting unless I have seengood clear images of the entire back of the picture.

Also to check if the painting is a modern Chinese factory produced acrylic work done on plywood.

There are many of these new Chinese Paintings being offered on , even by some of the larger \"Gallery\" sellers.

I find it amazing that some of these painting have sold on lately for well over £1000-£2000

And one just recently sold for around £8000

They can be bought in the UK for around £100-£400

Some have factory \"stock\" signatures such as;

George Webster and J Webb for flower paintings or James Hardy for Maritime subjects.

They usemany other spurious but interesting sounding names.

ALSO BEWARE;
Some Galleries date paintings as \"1900\'s\"
This can mean any date up to 1999 ( or later)
and they are often BRAND NEW Chinese factory reproductions.

Also watch out for inaccurate dating of paintings which can quite often bewrongly dated by 2,3,4 CENTURIES.

This is very common on even with some of the larger \"Gallery\" sellers

Quite recently I noticed a \"16th Century\" painting sold by one of the large \"Art Gallery\" sellersfor many thousands of pounds that in my opinion was less than 100 years old.

The Barque Britomart of Glasgow off the coast

Attributed to Lai Fong of Calcutta working in the late 1800\'s

Lai Fong was a Chinese artist working in the final quarter of the 19th century, Primarily from his studio in the Indian port of Calcutta. He was strongly influenced by an earlier generation of Chinese ship portraitists, including Lee Heng (f. 1850-1870), Hing Qua (fl. 1850-1880), and Lai Sung (fl. 1859-1885). Lai Fong was known especially for portraying the big, iron windjammers which called at Calcutta while voyaging either to or from ports in the Far East.

  1. Lai Fong is one of the few Chinese port painters to be identified. This work has been attributed to this artist based on it’s style of presentation and the familiar detail of the vessel.

Over time, and especially in the last decade, the value of these \"China Trade\" paintings have shown a very strong and consistent response in the marine art market. There are several factors contributing to the success of these important paintings. The first is the fine aesthetic qualities that the works possess, a traditional portrait style coloured with the romance of the era. Another consideration reflects the consistent attention that these paintings have garnered with international collectors both of both marine and oriental links below for more SCROLL DOWN AND READ ALL THE INFORMATION
