Description:
This brown leather purse measures about 6\" x7\". The interior is another layer of leather, so there\'s no seams showing. The sides are neatly stitched with brown strips of leather. The front of the purse has a tooled leather raised design and the back has a leather vertical strap. The closure is brass and has some green patina. I\'m not an expert on restoration of antiques, so I\'ll let the new owner take care of this. The purse will close securely with the top clasp. But if the owner wants the purse locked, there\'s a brass tag that can turn to keep the purse from accidently opening. The tag needs to be turned again to unlock the clasp. I\'ve been told that this is made by Turn-Loc, but I couldn\'t find any writing to show that.
The interior has no stains, although it is dusty from disuse. Both the front and back have leather pockets. The inside back has an imprint \"Austin Leather Goods\". Under the brass clasp are the imprints \"Patented Oct. 5, 1915-May 15. 1917 July 23, 1918.\"
Altho this purse is nearly 100 years old, it is in remarkably good condition. Other than the patina on the brass, there\'s no major damage. The stitching is in excellent condition and the clasp with the Turn-loc type of lock works great. The leather could use a good polish, but there\'s no major signs of wear.
