Austrian M1849 Augustin Jager Carbine Socket Bayonet - I belive this to be rare originalera manufacture. Massive dark polished steel bayonet with just over a a 23 1/4 inch blade. It\'samazing to me that this bayonet was designed for use on a carbine length rifle.Although, it has been suggested, that it was also employed as a short sword.

I want to be clear I am not an expert on this stuff and these were found in an old barn in New England. From research on line I \"THINK\" it is a darn scarce bayonet for aAustrian M1849 Augustin Jager Carbine.It has a 23 1/4” blade deeply stamped with odd markings. There is a fuller on each side face of the blade running 16.5” back from the base area. Socket is just over 4 1/4 inches long with large raised bridge and collar. Collar and swer in great condition. Overall length is approx. 28 1/4 inches. Attic untouched condition. This is almost perfect condition with NO major pitting and dark black color but has wear. The slightest of surface rust here and there. Light oil coat applied to protect from more rust. Very honest, very nice, and very, very scarce. PLEASE ask any question or request more pictures. This bayonet is in incredible great condition and had very odd marking. This bayonet was found with the other one listed.
