An authentic Ancient Chinese Eastern Han Dynasty period time (25-220 AD) ceramic model of a cooking stove decorated with two cooking cauldrons and the tableware. Reddish earthenware covered with rich green glaze. Models of stoves, both in bronze and ceramic were popular during the Han dynasty but became rare in later periods. In ancient China like in ancient Egypt, the afterlife was conceived as a continuation of life on earth. To provide for the needs of the afterlife, a variety of mortuary objects were buried with the person to enjoy in next existence wealth and happiness. The ceramic stove would have been used by the model chef to prepare the delicacies most favored by our tomb occupant in the afterlife.

CONDITION: The stove is in good condition, considering its age, approximately 2000 years except for small chips. No repairs or restorations.

MEASUREMENTS: Length: 19.7cm (7 3/4 in).Width: 18cm (7 1/8 in). Height: 10cm (4 in).
