ITEM DESCRIPTION: This is for twoauthentic beachcombedlobster crab trap buoy floats.Thesetwo buoys were found beach combing in Key West. Both floats were found at different beaches.I cleaned them up, repainted themandrestrung them onsome trap line that I found on the beach.I collect washed up trap line to prevent the turtles from getting tangled up in it. So if you want to buy some extra surf tumbled trap line, I sell it for twenty five cents a foot. I have sold these as they are found in the past and one of my repeat customers suggested that I repaint them their original colors before I list them. She explained to me that she did this with the ones she purchased from me and gave them as agift andthis gave folks the option ofhanging them inside their game rooms or bars. She explained that people didn\'t really want to hang buoys indoors that were stained, dirty or had signs of algae growth on them. So, I am going to give it a try, the colors you see on these buoys is the actual color that these were when found, I just repainted them. I am amazed at the variety of colors that you can find these in. Often the coloring is very faint; when that happens I try best to match the colors. If I have any doubts on the original color, I will note it. Both buoys have differentlicense numberson them.Bothbuoys have someminor dentsand worn areas onthe floats.These authentic fishing floats have been heavily used for their intended fishing purpose so they willhave gouges, cracks, scrapes, nicks, paint chipping, marine organism growth, barnacles, and/or repairs. I will try torepresent the buoys the best that I can in the pictures, but, sometimes that to can be difficult. The last picture shows a fishermen\'s compound with these floats hanging. Just know that these have been heavily used, weather and beaten up by the oceans waves. I also would not sell any buoys that I wouldn\'tdisplay myself. Some colors are more rare and harder to come by. I have been collecting these floats for 5 years plus.
These types of colorful buoys are used by the commercial fishermen to mark stone crab and spiny lobster traps in the shallow waters off the coast of Key West. Individual bright buoy colors and patterns make it easy for the fishermen to identify his/her own floats while they float in the oceans water. Floatsoften break loose from their traps during rough weather, tropical storms, or when the lines they are attached to are run over by boat propellers.
I have also noticed that some fishermen are very creative and although they have a main color, sometimes they paint their buoys to a theme or holiday. This is only my opinion as sometimes I will find the same license number on a set of off the wall colors and I have that same license number on a regular set. For example one time I found a set of white with black stripes set and thenlater found a set with Easter colors, yellow, pink and purple with the same license number as the white and black set.God knows we are in Key West as some people often say \"Key Weird\" so it doesn\'t surprised me at all. I guess that is why I am so addicted to finding these. All of my buoys comewith collection data.
These floats make great decorations for your bar, man cave, yard, back porch, patio,cabana, beach house,lake cabin, bathroom, seashell/nautical curio cabinet or anywhereyou want to for that ocean/nautical theme that you are looking for.
