GENUINE VINTAGE

TIGER PUKA SHELL

NECKLACE

Authentic older shells from the 90\'s in Hawaii. These are genuine older pukas

TIGER Shell is amongst the highly coveted of all the shells


They were strung with an old sterling beads on each end, and clasps with a hefty vintage lobster clasp with figure 8  style .925 sterling marked Eye extender. Very sturdy.

AVERAGE WIDTH: mm +/-8-9 mm

These shells have a glossy appearance, most likely machine tumbled & polished lightly! it does take a while to collect enough for a surfer choker  It is rumored, by the 90\'s the pukas of this size (tops of cone shells) were becoming scarce to find. 


THIS STRAND is sort of in between! Although tumbled & polished, there is enough of their original shape as sourced to see they are still genuine shells. Some have granules of sand embedded in them, some were from Tiger Cone Shells and others have parts of their sides intact. You can see their little internal rings underneath if you look. SOME have such large natural \"pukas (hole in Hawaiian!)\" Nicely matched strand very good looking!


Hawaiian Lore: Said to protect those at sea or water or while engaging in water sports ie why they were so sought after by surfers.

Great gift idea for surfers kayakers or anyone who loves the sea.
