You are offerding on an EXTREMELY RARE period Victorian or Edwardian shirtwaist or blouse that is made almost entirely of lace woven with the PERIOD POPULAR NAVAJO WHIRLING LOG, Rolling Log, or what became later known as Swastika. This symbol was popular in clothing and decor in the Victorian period and was seen on hats, jewelry and clothing. HOWEVER, THIS SHIRTWAIST/BLOUSE is a RARE AND QUITE UNUSUAL FIND. Note THAT THE WHIRLING LOG, SWASTIKA, ROLLING LOG face the opposite direction of the German Swastika. Also, know that the Navajo Indians - Native Americans - quit using the Whirling Log, Swastika, Rolling Log symbolafter it was used during WWII.
It is infair condition. Please look carefully at the photos to see the age and wear that is evident. Three photos explicitly show tattering, holes & discoloration. I have not repaired or cleaned any part of this beautiful piece.
Note the hand carved mother of pearl or shell buttons.Note the extraordinary lace work on the bodice. Bust measurement is about 36 inches.Note the tiny waist and high neck. Waist measurement is about 24 inches.From the back neck to the bottom of the shirtwaist is about 15 and 1/2 inches (starting at seamthat joins the high neck to the blouse).
