I have a large collection of Avon copper including some unusual pieces and I will be \"downsizing\" my collection. This piece isa BRASS5-1/2\" shallow bowl or dish.This piece has dark spots, a ringandscratches. It is markedThe Avon Copper Smith Avon NY Solid Brass.I have very few Brass pieces as most were copper from the shop.The Avon Coppersmith Shop was on route 5 & 20 in Avon NY and was startedin the early 30\'s by Arthur Cole, Former copper smith of the Roycroft copper shop. Arthur worked under Karl Kipp and Walter Jennings during his stay at the Roycroft campus. Much of the work produced at the Avon Copper Smith resembles that of the work done by Kipp and other Roycroft artisans. The work and hammering of some of the Avon pieces is just as good as some of the higher end Roycroft pieces. Walter Jennings worked at the Avon Copper Smith shop with Arthur Cole.
