Thisstatue depicts Saginoike Heikuro fighting the giant snake at the pond called “Sayamaike”.

SaginoikeHeikuro was a loyal servant Samurai of Kusunoki Masashige who was a famousgeneral during Nanboku cho period. (1336-1392).

SaginoikeHeikuro is a legendary hero and is one of heroes of the “Suikoden” .

This themeof fighting the giant is so famous and popular that many Ukiyoe depicts thistheme. Theses Ukiyoe with this Saginoike Heikuro
