Overview

Founded in 1833, Jaeger Le Coultre have long been acknowledged as one of the premier watchmakers both in terms of their extremely high quality movements and their effortlessly elegant design. This beautiful and classically art-deco wristwatch encapsulates both these facets. The solid 9ct yellow gold case is in excellent condition with only the most minor signs of wear. The high grade \'Fab Suisse\' Jaeger manual movement is in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by my professional watchmaker. The original slightly off white Jaeger signed dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is deliciously understated. The finely applied alternating gilt spear head hour batons and Arabic hour numbers along with the angular gilt handsprovide the most subtle contrast to the dial and blend perfectly with the gold case. To complete this elegant watch I have added a new, high quality dark brown Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches crocodile skin strap with gold plated buckle.

My asking price is below the value for a watch of thiscondition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintagewatches of this high quality. In view of the high grade Swiss movement, I willinclude a three month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enoughfor you to assess the working order. Also, I offer a full refund if you are notentirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within seven days for the UK,twelve days if overseas, in the same condition.

The Case

The gleaming provenance polished solid 9ct gold case is in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear. The deliciously curved lugs and perfectly proportioned case give a classically art-deco look.The case measures 33mm wide, excluding the winding crown and 39mm, including the lugs. The outside caseback carries the case reference of 086. The inside caseback is signed DTE which are the initial for Dennison who were an English case maker used by all the major brands including Rolex, Breitling and Omega. It also has the appropriate hallmarks for 9ct gold.

The Movement

Jaeger movements are recognised as one of the highest quality in watchmaking and were used by Patek Phillipe. This jewelled movement has just been fully serviced by my professional watchmaker and is running beautifully. It is signed \'Fab Suisse\', \'Jaeger Le Coultre\' and \'Swiss\'. The movement reference is \'1055852\'.

The Dial

The original Jaeger signed slightly off white dial is deliciously elegant. The alternating applied gilt spearhead hour batons and and Arabic numbers is classically art-deco. The angular gilt hands complete the look. It is signed \'Jaeger Le Coultre\'.The lens has been replaced with a new acrylic one.

The Strap

As mentioned, this watch sits on a high quality dark brown Hirsch and Sonning Vintage Watches crocodile skin strap with a gold plated buckle.

The Conclusion

This is a beautiful example of a watch from one of horology’s mostfamous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent financialinvestment as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy.
