For your consideration is this SERVICED beautiful antique Seth Thomas City Series “Chicago” 8 day shelf clock, ca. 1880. The brass movement, with Geneva stops, was cleaned, oiled and is running strong, keeping good time and striking the hours. The rosewood case is in beautiful condition for its age and has the original working keyed door lock. The lower glass picture is not original. Metal dial with strengthened numerals. The clock measures approximately 17” tall and 10 3/8” wide. Includes pendulum and key (not original). The photos are an important part of the description. Please note that all antique mechanical clocks react to changes in temperature and humidity and, especially after shipping, almost surely will need adjustment to keep proper time. You do this by adjusting the pendulum up for faster and down for slower. Only set the clock by turning the minute hand clockwise (and wait for it to finish striking each time before proceeding) and do not move the hour hand. Also, be sure it is level so the tick tock (the “beat”) is even. If necessary, put small folded paper shims under one side or the other until the beat is nice and even. Because of the nature of antique clocks, it is being sold as-is, no returns. It will be very carefully packed for safe arrival. Shipping to only the lower 48 states.
