DESCRIPTIONThisBeautiful Art Deco Western Electric D1 202 Desk Telephoneis fully reconditioned and guaranteed to work.If you wanta REALLY NICE WESTERN ELECTRIC DESK TELEPHONE THIS IS IT! It was made in the 1930s for the Bell System.It was totally taken apart, cleaned, polished, refinished, reassembled, and thoroughly tested. This will make an excellent addition to your collection or decor. Please see allthe pictures for it\'s beautiful condition. This is the anti-sidetone version that provides great transmission quality. You will be pleasantly surprised at how good this telephone sounds.The phone\'s housing is marked D1. The handset is an E1,made of bakelite, and marked TRADE MARK, WESTERN ELECTRIC, REG US PAT OFF,E1, MADE IN USA on the handle. The transmitter has the 1930s type capsule for excellent sound quality. This phone is not a reproduction. It is the real thing. The nice brown cloth cords, the quality brown felt on the bottom cover, and the number card on the dial are new.The phone\'s base has a nice black semi-gloss baked onfinish like the original one. The dial is an original WE #5H that makes a soft clicking sound when dialing. The dial is marked5Hon the bottom. The dial plate is an original 164A porcelain type. The base plateisanoriginalwith a quality brown felt cover. Theinsides are all there, correct, and original.The WE 684A anti-sidetone subset (ringer box) contains the ringer, coil, and capacitors. The cover is made ofplastic and has been repainted. The subset can be mounted on the wall, or placed under the desk, table, or anything else that the phone sits on. The 684A subset is correct for this telephone and is necessary for the proper operation of the telephone. Wooden extension ringer boxes are not correct and take away from the value of the telephone.As mentioned before, this phone is fully functional and ready to use. Just plug it into any standard modular jack that provides standard telephone service. To make a call, just pick up the handset and dial the number you want to reach.
