Thisis a beautiful antique French Shaker style hatbox that dates from the late 1800s.It carries a wonderful sepia ink scrolled name on the side of MADAME GOURNAY.The box is soft warm old pine in colour, the lid still fits well and the inner old green paper lining is still in place just a little distressed from wear.The leather holding strap and buckle is all still good and strong too which is quite unusual as they always were the first piece to become damaged!!The top of the lid is black leatherette again all good and strong.The box would display beautifully on any shelf , wardrobe top or in an armoire.The measurements are:Height 8.25\" (21cms)Width 13.5\" (34.5cms)Depth 10.25\" (26.5cms)The base is solid too and the box is in wonderful vintage condition.Fabulous belle brocante antique & vintage French timeworn treasures from simply-chateau.PLEASE SEE MY BLOG FOR THE LATEST NEWS FROM THE home in a tiny Normandie chateau whilst truffling for scrumptious vintage French shabby chic treasures.
